Northern Hearts Celebrates World Heart Day!

World Heart Day is celebrated every year on the 29th of September. It was named by the World Heart Federation in 2012. The day serves as a platform to bring awareness towards the fight against cardiovascular (heart) disease. World Heart Day informs people around the globe about heart disease and stroke while assisting to highlight the actions that individuals can take to prevent and control this disease.

World Heart Day is a global campaign during which individuals, families, and communities can help to take charge of their heart health and others by inspiring heart-healthy living across the world.

Particularly, in Northwestern Ontario, the incidence of heart disease is 50% higher compared to the rest of the province, with 70% of adults having at least one major risk factor, therefore, attaining the highest death rate in Ontario.

Therefore, in line with Northern Hearts initiatives to help offset these statistics, we are hoping to support this amazing day by posting your statements below on what World Heart Day means to you!

Individuals can submit their statement via: Facebook @NorthernHeartsThunderBay or Email at northernhearts@tbaytel.net

As Dr. Chris Lai says:

In the midst of COVID 19, people will still die from or contract Heart Diseases. The World Heart Day will remind us of the importance of keeping our body and mind healthy. Come and support us Virtually and Financially, as We Can do it Together.”
